Letter to the editor: Appreciate act of kindness

To the editor:

A very nice thing happened recently, as my wife, daughter and I went out to dinner at our usual Sunday restaurant. The staff there was surprised to see us on a Thursday, but we told them it was our 49th anniversary and we were there to celebrate. The couple in the booth next to us overheard and quietly paid for our meal.

After the staff informed us, we greeted them and thanked them for their kindness. Turned out the man remembered our daughter, as he had gone to Free State High School with her. We had a nice little visit and thanked them again.

With all the turmoil and stress we read and hear about every day, it was comforting to find and be reminded that there are still very good people out there who will do things for others, expecting nothing in return.

Lawrence
